- Retreat: BIG will host an interdisciplinary retreat this winter in Chicago to explore future directions for research in information, complexity, and cognition. Ideas for promising projects developed through the workshop will be eligible to compete for pilot funding provided by University of Chicago's Knowledge Lab.

Seed Grants: Flexible funding up to $30,000 to explore early-stage research ideas on the topics of information, complexity, and cognition. Usually, BIG only accepts new proposals, but for this cycle only, BIG will accept applications from previous winning projects if they demonstrate that another cycle of funding would advance the project's larger vision.
